Something Wicked This Way Comes

I'm beginning to think my house (this one isn't mine)  may be haunted.
Strange things happen here.
Like with my computer.  My blog.  Things get erased.
Feeds that are merely being redirected get lost in cyberland.

More frightening  than that are the spirits that come during the night.
Makes you wonder if you really are awake.  The first, a little boy looking terribly in need of help.  Like maybe he had drown or been in a car wreck.  That was so real I was afraid to sleep in our bedroom.  The last, was night-before-last, a tall man and a shorter woman were standing by my side of the bed.  I turned to wake my husband and when I looked back around, they were gone. This has been going on since we've lived here for two months.  At first I wanted to move but that is just not possible.  AS this happens, I will probably tell you about it.  You are certainly welcome to tell your experience in comments below each post.

Have a safe nights sleep,
Betty

Strange happening this week...
One day this week our electric & phone suddenly went off on a sunny day.
We checked the electric meter...and even though it was RUNNING,
we wanted to know what had happened, so we drove down to the electric company to ask about it.  Everything was fine there.  When we got back home,
miracousley, (sp) the lights were back on!  We thought and thought about it and couldn't figure it out!  Then, a few days later we were talking to our neighbor, he had bought this house for his mother but she lives in Florida.  In conversation, he said, "Mom passed away recently."
My thoughts started churning and I said, "Duke, that was your mother who turned our lights off!"  Since the electric was still running although all lights and phone went out, what else can we think?
We bought a beautiful burlap floral wreath to hang on the sunporch in her memory, a neutral arrangement, so it can remain there.  His mom is the one that had the sunporch added to the house!  And it's our favorite part of the house, as it was hers too!  We plan to decorate it seasonally each month.  At this time, it's fall & Halloween.

Let us know what you think?

Never Enough Chandeliers

Good Morning Family & Friends,

How was your week-end?  With this cooler weather we have had our heat on for a while, although from noon to about five, we may need the a/c.  We've been working on our sunporch and finally took some pictures.  Last thing we added was an antique vintage chandelier, you can never have enough chandeliers.  This one is brass with four lights and glass shades, white trimmed in pink.  Just beautiful!  The top is decorated with a fall garland of apples.  Bought at thrift store $60, provides a cozy light.

Happy Monday

                                                                Happy Monday!

Welcome to Seasons in the Cottage...we're glad you've stopped by to say hello and we hope you will stay a while.  Today is so cold on the sunporch, it seems we may not be able to enjoy meals there, even with the electric heater.  We'll see.

With the kids back in school and the days getting shorter all the time, September is almost over, so make the most of the perfect cool air and blue skies.  The breeze has a chill, the leaves are starting to change and our sunporch is almost ready for picture taking.

It's finally sweater weather, and we love to fill our week-ends with trips to visit family, cheering on UK games and soaking up the last of the sunshine.  A backyard bonfire is always a good idea...don't forget the s'mores!

Soon enough, the wind will pick up and we'll need our jackets, and the sun will set at dinnertime.   Enjoy September while it lasts.

                                                              Blessings always,

Happy FALL Weekend!

Happy Weekend!  The house smells of coffee this chilly morning.  I find few aromas as
comforting as the smell of coffee.  Reminds me of home, mom and dad.
These cute flowers won't be around long, as FALL officially arrives tomorrow.
September here always has days that both linger in summer and meander
ahead into the feeling of fall.  We put our thermostat on 68 cool in the afternoons and
then 72 warm in the mornings.
We're already gathering small leaves on our walks that have lost their green and found their
yellow colors.

Feathered Nest Friday

Beautifully handcrafted
(not bought)

                 Feathered Nest Friday

The sunpouch is almost ready to decorate and we'll be going shopping today for additional fall and Halloween items.  Especially faux pumpkins and maybe a crow or two.  I have two birdcages that need decorating.  One is a beautiful tall wooden vintage that I h
ave used with live birds until I stopped breeding love birds.  Lovebirds are a pleasure but we now have a shih Tzu puppy.

Enjoyed my  fall/Halloween shopping day!  Bought too much as usual.  Here it is, for our sunporch.  Garlands of leaves placed at top of windows (very heartwarming), three sizes of pumpkins.  The prettiest ones are black and silver,  leaf  table cloth, small fall floral bouquets, beautiful floral wall hanger basket for the porch side of kitchen door, six glasses with leaves pattern  six fall plates, Royal Norfolk stoneware with fruit design and two white paper lanterns with BOO print.  Most of these items came from the Dollar Tree, few from Walmart, four pretty pumpkins, one in white and two small green ones.  A gentleman in line at the Dollar Tree shopping with his family said to the clerk, "You have the best variety of Halloween décor we've seen, even from Big Lots!"

Return to Loveliness

A return to loveliness...

We are again at that preciousness of time & seasons ~
savouring the lingering moments of summer while
anticipating the ambiance & colors of fall.
I can see that our posts are going to reflect
this lightness of heart for some days to come.
It is exciting!

Confessions of a Serial Dish Collector

                     Confessions of a Self-professed
                                Serial Dish Collector

I am a self-professed serial dish collector...
and have been collecting pretty dishes for a while now.
I shop TJ MAX, Marshalls, Dollar Tree, Walmart,
Big Lots, Hobby Lobby, Kohl's, and thrift shops.

When collecting blue & white, I bought these café curtains
to match at Walmart about $10 a pair.  This fall is orange & tan plaid.
My  thrifty finds will be posted soon.

Blessings always,

About Me

About Me...When I am not busy blogging, you will find me on our sunporch which is my nest.  It never fails that I have thoughts of holidays and I long for cozy, intimate settings with family.
